6 Signs or Indications of Decreased Lung Function

Breathing Difficulty

This is one of the most common signs of decreased lung function. Patients may experience shortness of breath or difficulty breathing during light activities or at rest.

Persistent Cough

A persistent or recurring cough can be a sign of lung disease, especially when accompanied by phlegm, indicating a possible lung infection or other issues.

Chest Tightness or Pain

Feeling pressure or pain in the chest may indicate lung disease, especially when taking deep breaths or coughing.

Decreased Physical Stamina

Feeling more fatigued while performing the same level of activity compared to before may be due to the lungs not supplying enough oxygen.

Frequent Respiratory Infections

If you often catch colds or suffer from bronchitis, pneumonia, and other respiratory infections, and recover slowly, it could be a sign of decreased lung function.

Prolonged Exhalation

When exhalation time is longer than inhalation time or exhalation appears labored, it may be a signal of impaired lung function.
