There is currently no consensus in the medical community on whether ginger can reduce or eliminate nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy.
Some studies have found that ginger has this effect. For example, one study showed that taking different doses of ginger significantly reduced the nausea caused by chemotherapy. In two other smaller studies, patients taking standard anti-nausea medications along with ginger experienced further reductions in chemotherapy-induced nausea. Another small study found that patients undergoing chemotherapy who drank a ginger and high-protein beverage experienced less nausea compared to those who did not.
However, some studies have shown that ginger has no effect in reducing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. Therefore, the medical community cannot currently recommend using ginger to counteract nausea. The effectiveness of ginger may vary from person to person, so you might want to try it. Of course, you should consult your doctor and consider taking medications specifically designed to control nausea.
